Greetings friends,

So I was in the Chicago Tribune this last week! We were quoted in religion reporter Manya Brachear's blog, The Seeker, asking the question whether civil disobedience can be a sacred act. Here's the link:

I didn't realize it ran until someone mentioned it a moment ago; I also don't know if it made the print edition or only the web. Manya says sometimes they're a little too controversial to make the print edition. (I also didn't know I sounded that eager. And I'm not sure the faculty as a whole are quite as on board with it as the article makes it sound, either. Time will tell...)

Meanwhile, I was convicted (everyone is), and sentenced to 30 days, most likely to be served in county jail, given recent changes in Bureau of Prisons policies. This will probably happen towards April, but there is some uncertainty exactly when. Most likely, I'll be assigned to Cook County; there's also a chance of being sent to my hometown in Iowa; and a remote chance of some other random place altogether.

There will be a Festival of Hope to celebrate the SOA prisoners of conscience on Sunday afternoon, February 24th, at St. Gertrude's Parish in Lakeview. The organizers would love any folk to perform who want to offer a few songs, poems, or storytellings, etc. If this interests you, please lemme know quick!
